Her family died on an airplane crash in 1999 when she was eight, and she was the only survivor besides her sister. She now lives by herself in Forks. She doesn't remember a lot of her younger years because her parents died when she was so young, the only memory she has of her younger life is the time her mother gave her a charm bracelet with sunflower charms, each one symbolizing her dead family members Since then, she has added two black sunflowers symbolizing her mom and dad.
